Heralding new-crop Guatemalans for the 2024 crop, this delicious coffee hails from La Democracia, a community of 12 Organic smallholder farmers in north-western Huehuetenango.
We have worked with this community for over five years now, and is firmly established as one of our favourite micro-regions in Guatemala. Huehuetenango has long been known as an area well suited to coffee cultivation and for us the La Democracia community produces a particularly sweet, rich and creamy profile – perfectly suited for espresso!

Caturra and Bourbon varieties are cultivated on small coffee farms (averaging ~4 hectares each), mechanically de-pulped on-farm and patio dried over 3-5 days. At 1,700 meters above sea level, La Democracia is excellently situated for slow maturation and even ripening of coffee cherries. Organic practices such as on-farm composting, vermiculture and cascara pulp are all employed, with zero external inputs brought in to import fertility.
